Upcoming presentation in the final ERC MISFIRES conference
Next week, the University College Dublin (UCD) will host the final ERC MISFIRES conference, a groundbreaking event exploring the cultural and social dimensions of targeted innovation in healthcare markets. Professor Susi Geiger of the UCD College of Business will organise the conference, which will take place on May 2-3, 2024, at the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business.
The conference will bring together top social scientists, healthcare advocates, and experts from around the world to discuss various aspects of targeted therapies and their impact on society. Dr Mina Hosseini will present a paper titled "AI, Targeted Therapies and the Future of EU Pharmaceutical Law and Policy" as part of the conference's exploration of emerging technologies in healthcare.
An accompanying art exhibition, "Chronic Illness: A Creative Exploration Art," will be opened by Julia Corey, a spokesperson from Long Covid Ireland. It will showcase the realities of living with Long Covid and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Professor Susi Geiger, the conference organiser, emphasises the importance of discussing targeted therapies' cultural, social, and economic consequences. "Given the increase in medications that come onto the market at price points far beyond a million Euro per patient, these debates are now vital to hold," she stated.
The event is open to the public and will provide a unique opportunity to engage with experts on the cutting edge of healthcare innovation and policy.
